Manuel Vermeire (born 12.7.1987) is a Belgian printmaker whose work mainly consists in reproducing paintings in the form of a wood engraving print. == Biography == Manuel Vermeire was born in Chiusdino (Siena) on July 12, 1987, the son of Belgian parents who had moved to Italy a few years earlier. He completed his secondary education of art studies at the Istituto d'Arte Duccio di Buoninsegna in Siena, obtaining the Maturità Artistica in July 2007. At that point he decided to direct his artistic efforts towards the traditional printmaking techniques of etching and engraving. He was awarded a scholarship that enabled him to enroll at the institute Il Bisonte in Firenze, Italy. This allowed him to try his hand at different printmaking techniques, until he began to focus on burin engraving - at first on copper, then on wood. His teachers were Manuel Ortega, Vincenzo Burlizzi and Furio de Denaro. Today his wood engravings follow mainly the tradition of reproducing a print version of famous paintings. His main inspirations are found in both Italian and Flamish artistic tradition. Timothy Cole (1852–1931), Albrecht Dürer (1471–1528) and Jacob De Gheyn (ca. 1565 – 1629) are amongst the printmaking artists who have most influenced him over the years. Amze Emmons, curator of the Fresh Impressions exhibition, Projects Gallery in Philadelphia wrote about his work: "Manuel Vemeire’s wood engraving La Battaglia di Anghiari is a delightful mash-up of historic forms." He lived and worked in Italy, Ireland, Belgium, Austria, England, Slovakia and Russia. Currently he is staying in The Czech Republic. 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Manuel Vermeire」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
